How did National Nanny Recognition Week Start?

Updated: Feb 15

It is September again; time flies, but we cannot let the month go by without talking about National Nanny Recognition Week.

What is it?

National Nanny recognition week is where Nannies should be celebrated and recognized for their work, the care they give children, and sheer patience.

How did it start?

A group of Nannies and Nanny agency owners started this more than twenty years ago, and it is still going strong. Thanks to Kellie Geres and Angela Jackson. Watch the video to learn more about the history of NNRW.

The NNRW website shares that NNRW is celebrated out of love and loyalty to this industry. As well as the sisterhood they've created with hundreds of nannies across the country. In addition, the nannies, community leaders, organizations, and agencies keep NNRW alive and thriving year after year by bringing awareness to parents, nannies, and the public.

When is it?

This year it is celebrated from September 18th to September 24th, 2022. It is typically the last full week of September each year.

How can you share this information?

If you have not visited the NNRW website yet, you should! You will find a sample letter you can share with your employer.

If you are a parent, check out their section sharing ideas on how to recognize and thank your Nanny, and if you are an agency, why not thank your nannies too?

My thoughts...

If you have a wonderful Nanny you want to recognize and thank, why not nominate her for Nanny of the Year? Nominations are open till October 17th, 2022. What better way to show your gratitude?
